Day 5: Mostar, Bosnia

Your driver will meet you at 7 o’clock in the morning close to the accommodation, and then you'll be transported to Bosnia and Mostar. Mostar is one of the oldest and most popular settlements of Bosnia-Herzegovina, well known for its Old Bridge (Stari Most), historic old town, a diverse nightlife, and amazing examples of Ottoman architecture.

A charming old urban settlement with small narrow streets, lovely cafes, and comfortable restaurants, with a fantastic view of Stari Most, the Neretva River and the surrounding mountains. Along the way, make a few short stops to take photos, rest and enjoy the spectacular scenery.

Day 6: Sutjeska National Park & Trnovacko

We start our journey early in the morning from Mostar. Along the way, you will make a few short stops to rest and take photos before getting to our destination Tjentište. From there, onwards travel with all-terrain vehicles towards the top of Maglić and Prijevor (1668 m). Halfway to Prijevor, at 1,280 meters above sea level, you'll visit a landscaped viewpoint (about 400 m from the road through the forest), which offers an excellent view of the Skakavac waterfall. Day 7: Rafting Tara River & Pluzine

After breakfast, enjoy this day tour with half-day rafting through the famous Tara Canyon in Montenegro, the deepest canyon in Europe, and the second deepest in the world (after the Grand Canyon in the USA). The canyon is in the UNESCO register of the world’s natural heritage. 18 km of water rapids will take us through the most attractive part of the canyon on the river Tara, from Brštanovica to Šćepan Polje, on a ride that will last around three or four hours. Day 8: Pluzine & Lake Piva

If there’s something you’d love to do in Plužine, today is the day for it. You can wander through the town's surroundings, take a zipline across the Piva Lake or even walk around Piva Lake for the day or enjoy a lazy morning before trekking on the mountains of Durmitor's at a steady pace. And as the night approaches, you could rest your tired legs at one of the town's restaurants with a delicious dinner!

Spend a few days in Podgorica on your round trip

Day 9 - Pluzine to Podgorica

After our short break in Pluzine, it’s time to continue to Podgorica. You may wish to hang around in Montenegro a little longer if you’re not ready to return yet. If you want, you can spend a few days in Podgorica or opt in for a few day trips to the surroundings of the city. From Podgorica you find your own way to the Albanian city Shkoder and bus is the easiest option.

Day 11: Shkoder, Albania

Welcome to Shkoder! The biggest city in the north of Albania, Shkoder is also one of Albania's most interesting cities to visit with a glorious history, where each era has left its own special mark on it. Make your own way to the accommodation and explore the city on your own for the rest of the day. Our recommendation is to visit the Castle of Rozafa with its amazing history and legends, or just to hang out and chill in Albanian style at a local café.

Day 12: Lake Koman & Berisha Village

Be ready for an early start as you leave Shkoder at 06:30 to drive toward Lake Koman in order to catch a ferry that departs at 09:00 to the other side of the lake, Fierza. After reaching Berisha village, which is the base for the night, you head out on Lake Koman on kayaks with a dramatic backdrop scenery of dense forested hills, vertical slopes and deep gorges. You'll be back at the guesthouse for lunch, after which you have free time for some more kayaking on this stunning lake.

Valbona Valley is perfect if you're into trekking in the nature

Day 13: Valbona Valley

Heading back the same way you came, you catch a bus and a ferry at to the other dock of the lake. The drive from Fierza to Valbona takes around 45 min passing through the town of Bajram Curri, the gateway to Valbona Valley. After a lunch break in Valbona, get ready to gear up for a little hiking trip in Kukaj. This hike to this very remote area in Valbona Valley where it's still all about self-sufficient living takes about 1-2 hours, and is a great warm-up for the big hike tomorrow.

Day 14: Theth

Also called as the Big Day of the tour, you now set off on the thrilling hike from Valbona to Theth following the ancient path that the locals have been using for years. Back in the day it was only possible to travel from Valbona to Shkoder on foot taking two full days of walking! Walking on this path we will pass through the oldest part of the village where people are still living in their more than 100-year-old stone houses that are remarkable remnants of the past. The 18-km trek offers spectacular views of long rocky valleys and lush green forests. You stop for lunch at one of the traditional cafés along the way, but do stock up on snacks just in case. Tirana is a great place to enjoy the city life in the Balkans

Day 15: Tirana

After breakfast at the guesthouse, the beautiful Gurnas waterfall, located around a 45-min walk from the centre of the village, is the last stop before leaving Theth behind. It's about a 3-hour drive to Shkoder with a lunch stop on the way. You will have free time to cover the last bits of Shkoder before hopping on our private and comfortable transport to journey onwards to Tirana where the tour ends in the evening.

Day 16: Travel on your own or head back home

Looking to continue your adventure or head home from Tirana? You have the option of taking a short bus ride to Durres, from Durres there are two ferry connections onwards to Ancona or Bari.
Where time allows stop off for a couple of days and discover Southern Italy’s second-biggest city Bari, sun-drenched and vibrant, the city favours stunning beaches and a historic old city to discover.
Continue on Italy's direct Intercity train to Bologna where direct connections to Munich can be found. From Munich you can find trains to Hamburg and then onwards home.

If you're up for a true adventure into the exotic nature of the beautiful Balkans, this roundtrip is surely something for you. Enjoy the landscapes of no less than 4 countries when you're travelling through Croatia, Bosnia, Montenegro and Albania along with likeminded backpackers.

Start your adventure on a train taking you all the way from home to the Croatian city Zagreb. Spend a few days here, before catching bus to Dubrovnik, from where your round trip adventure begins. 

From Croatia you'll travel with other backpackers to some of the coolest places in Bosnia-Herzegovina including the iconic town of Mostar famous for in particular the bridge Stari Most. From Mostar you continue into the mountaneous landscapes of Bosnia as well as neighbouring Montenegro. Here you'll be in for awesome trekking and some adventurous rafting on some of Europe's wildest rivers. 

Montenegro also happens to be the place where you'll find Europe's deepest canyon, Tara, which, of course, is a highlight on this tour. Your last stop in Montenegro is capital, Podgorica, where you can choose to stay for a few days before finding your own way to Shköder in Albania, where the second leg of this roundtrip begins. 

After a day in Shköder it's time to head back out in the wild. The Albanian Alps are really something special, and you'll see landscapes here that are absolutely out of this world.

The full itinerary ends in capital city, Tirana, where you can choose to continue on your own or head back home.

Only by trekking you can reach this incredible heart-shaped lake, that symbolizes love. Trnovačko Lake is located in the far northwest of Montenegro, near the border with Bosnia. Besides the Black Lake on Durmitor, this is one of the most beautiful lakes in Montenegro. The lake is surrounded by high mountains from the east, south and west, the most famous of them are Maglić and Volujak. After this exciting trek, the ride continues to Montenegro and the campsite for the dinner and overnight.
