Itinerary

Pacific Coast

Days 1 Los Angeles & Santa Barbara

The ocean awaits your arrival as you head to the awesome Pacific Coast. Stop in Santa Barbara to check out the pier and beach, before continuing up the coast to spend your first night getting to know your fellow travellers!

Days 2 Monterey

As Highway 1 is closed you'll travel Highway 101 from the Santa Barbara to the Monterey/Big Sur area, where you'll sleep under the Californian stars before you get ready for epic views tomorrow in Yosemite!

Days 3-4 Yosemite National Park

As you say ??so long' to the ocean for a couple of days you head towards the snowy peaks of the Sierra Nevada Mountains and the towering peaks of Yosemite National Park. You'll have two days to hike, bike, or float through this extraordinary landscape of glacier-carved granite monoliths, spectacular waterfalls and groves of Giant Sequoia trees. Make the most of the great selection of hiking trails suitable for all levels of fitness and be sure to keep your eyes peeled for bear and coyotes roaming the trails. Hike the Mist Trail to Vernal Falls for stunning views that'll leave you feeling inspired. Yes, somewhere this beautiful really does exist! Why not explore Yosemite Village with its museum, art galleries and short walking trails?

Days 5-6 San Francisco

Come fog or shine this city is awesome! Start with a walk across Golden Gate Bridge and a visit to Haight-Ashbury, a street oozing with hippy vibes and plenty of quirky shops and cafes. Head down to Pier 39 to see the resident sea lions who flock there in their hundreds - you'll definitely hear them before you see them! Make sure you sample a delicious crab roll at Fisherman's Wharf. The highlights keep coming thick and fast with an included trip to the city's most famous attraction, Alcatraz Prison (worth US$33). Learn all about the prisoners who spent their lives trying to escape with a superb audio tour. In the evening, set sail on an optional sunset sail cruise for a different perspective of the famous Golden Gate Bridge.

Days 7-8 Redwood National Park

As you drive along the stunning Californian Coast to Redwood National Park, you'll be well and truly spoilt with amazing scenery around every bend. Get out and stretch those legs with a hike on the Tall Trees Grove trail and keep an eye out for elk and bear who can be spotted hiding under the canopy of the Redwoods. As the name suggests the trees along this trail are tall! They are in fact the tallest trees on earth, so be prepared to spend a lot of time looking up. As you explore more of the park you might start to recognise the canyons covered in fern and moss from Steven Spielberg's 'Jurassic Park 2: The Lost World'. Don't worry though, the dinosaurs are long gone!

Days 9-10 Portland

Call it what you want - 'City of Roses', 'Bridge City' or 'Beervana'- Portland is simply awesome! The fact that you'll see the slogan 'Keep Portland Weird' plastered everywhere makes this super chilled city even more intriguing. It's certainly a vibrant city, full of quirky cafes, cool hipster folk and farmers markets. Oh - and let's not forget about the beer! With over 30 breweries dotted across the city you'll never go thirsty in Portland.

Days 11 Mount Rainier National Park

Journey into the heart of the Cascade Mountains to Mount Rainier National Park; the range and it's epic hiking trails sure live up to the hype. There are over 300 miles available on the park's network of trails, with everything from easy walks through forest and meadows carpeted in wildflowers, to heart-pounding climbs up to the mountain's glaciers. Mount Rainier, an active strato-volcano, looms in the background. Don't worry though, it hasn't erupted since 1854! This is the perfect introduction to the lush and vibrant landscape of Washington State.

Days 12-13 Olympic National Park

Get ready to roll with a blast of fresh air adventure in pristine wilderness. Washington's jewel, Olympic National Park, offers a wide range of vistas including glacier carved valleys, snowy peaks, rugged coastline and an ancient rainforest to explore and enjoy. An afternoon of kayaking is included on Lake Crescent, amongst forest-covered mountains and water so clear it's tough not to dive in! Relax at Sol Duc Hot Springs (optional) - after so much activity, your body will thank you for it.

Days 14 Olympic National Park & Seattle

Leaving the mountains of the Olympic Peninsula behind, enjoy a scenic journey across Puget Sound by ferry from Bainbridge Island to Seattle. Once you have arrived, why not whisk yourself more than 150 metres (520 ft.) up the Space Needle, taking in the spectacular setting from a glass elevator? If you prefer to explore at ground level then get yourself to Pike Place Market and watch as the famous fishmongers throw fish to each other, while you grab yourself some tasty local seafood or check out the city's coffee culture. This tour ends at approximately 17:00 hrs. We can book you post tour accommodation at our gateway hotel if required. If you are planning to fly tonight, please do not book a flight that departs before 21:00 hrs.
