Iquitos Amazon Jungle Adventure 4D/3N

Day 1: Iquitos - Amazon Jungle, Peru

Get picked-up in Iquitos and depart from the port by fast boat for a 3-hour ride traversing the Amazon river to reach the jungle lodge. Afterwards, go on the Leoncito Hike, where you appreciate the immense variety of flora around the lodge.

Transfer Iquitos - Jungle Lodge and Activities in the Amazon Jungle (L/D)
Please arrive to Iquitos before 9:00 am today. Transfer from the airport arrivals lounge to Iquitos (or hotel to the office) for shopping and last-minute coordination. Transfer to the port for a fast 3-hour boat ride upriver from Iquitos on the Amazon River. Upon arrival, get settled in to your lodge and enjoy lunch.
Afterwards, go on the Leoncito Hike, where you appreciate the immense variety of flora around the lodge. On this walk you can taste the water that Uncaria tomentosa (cat's claw) has within its vines - some say it can cure cancer and AIDS. You'll also be amazed at how huge the ceiba tree is. In addition, you will see the world's smallest monkey, the pigmy marmoset, and the squirrel and tamarin monkeys. If you're lucky, you'll see the howler monkey, whose deafening roar can be heard many miles away. After watching a sunset over the forest of mirrors head back to the lodge for dinner. In the evening, take a boat ride to see caimans, nocturnal birds and mammals.
NOTE: Once you arrive in Iquitos, our driver will pick you up from your hotel or the airport, and take you to our office. After check-in and a brief explanation of the boat ride to the lodge, we will sail in one of our boats. Our boats leave Iquitos every day at 9:30 AM, arriving at the lodge at 12:30 PM. The last day of your stay, we leave the Lodge after lunch, arriving in Iquitos around 4 PM.

Day 2: Amazon Jungle, Peru

Enjoy breakfast and head out on your boat trip to Sapote lagoon and to Laguna Moena where lazy bears and monkeys are seen. Catch different kind of fish, including the famous piranha in the Corriente and Purura lagoons.

Activities in the Amazon Jungle (B/L/D)
Have an early breakfast to charge your batteries for your boat trip to the Sapote lagoon and to Laguna Moena where lazy bears and monkeys are seen. Catch different kind of fish, including the famous piranha in the Corriente and Purura lagoons (being more difficult in March, April and May). This is an area that has many strangler vines, being the favorite spot of the bird "hoatzin" or shansho. This colorful bird looks like a prehistoric bird because it has three claws on the middle joint of the wing. Return to the lodge for a dinner buffet. At night, you do a night walk in search of huge frogs, anaconda's favorite food. In addition to seeing tarantulas, it is worth clarifying that despite the bad reputation, they are not dangerous to humans.
Once you catch any piranhas, we recommend you let them go. If you like, we will take the largest piranha you catch to the lodge so that the chef can prepare it for dinner. The rest are set free.

Day 3: Amazon Jungle, Peru

Have an early breakfast and get the chance to swim close to pink and grey dolphins, visit the famous Victoria Regia and visit local villages.

Activities in the Amazon Jungle (B/L/D)
Enjoy breakfast and take the boat trip to cruise the Amazon River, where you will experience the most magical moment of your trip, which is to swim in the same river where the pink and grey dolphins live. You can see them, but don't expect to touch. On the way back to the lodge, you will see the biggest aquatic plant in the world, the famous Victoria Regia. It is also easy to see iguanas. After this, experience an excursion by boat or canoe to Jorge Cano to search for the Howler Monkey. Share the late afternoon with the friendly people of the jungle, in the village San Juan de Yanayacu. The visit is very spontaneous; travellers sometimes play soccer with them or just walk around the village. You can buy handicrafts that they make themselves based on seeds and vegetable ivory. Return to the lodge for a dinner buffet. On your last night, take a night canoe trip to feel the sounds and animals of the jungle more closely.

Day 4: Amazon Jungle - Iquitos, Peru

Have breakfast, embark on an excursion by boat to the difficult to access Casha Lagoo. After lunch, spot wild animals before taking your boat back to Iquitos.

Activities in the Amazon Jungle and Return to Iquitos (B/L)
After breakfast, you will embark on an excursion by boat to the difficult to access Casha Lagoon. Here we will walk or row, depending on the level of the river and watch different species of birds and monkeys. Your experience of the jungle comes to an end and you will sail three hours back to Iquitos and be dropped off at the hotel or airport. Please plan to fly out of Iquitos after 6pm.
