We understand like no other that studying abroad is exciting, but also a cost issue. And flying to the other side of the world to study at an esteemed university might not exactly fit your budget. Here's the good news: The University of Technology in Sydney (UTS) is offering a variety scholarships of up to 40% off the tuition fees! UTS offers some of the most generous scholarships in Australia, so let's dive into what  UTS has to offer you besides a good deal on your tuition.

Being the city with the highest population in all of Australia, maybe it's no surprise that Sydney is also the most multicultural city in the country. The vibe is lively, with plenty of cool bars and some great architecture around as well as many beaches, parks, and recreational areas making Sydney a major destination for tourists from around the world. Oh, and don't forget the iconic landmarks such as the Opera House and Harbour Bridge.

Study in Sydney: what courses can I study at UTS?

Like most modern universities, The University of Technology Sydney has a broad array of undergraduate and postgraduate course areas, as well as short courses on many topics. With 'technology' in the name, you might expect subjects like IT and Data Science but at UTS you can enrol in courses like Communication, Architecture and Law as well. But what about those scholarships, huh?

Studying abroad is something you do for the experience, not to save cash. But, that doesn't mean you should go broke during your study in Australia. UTS offers undergraduate courses and postgraduate courses, and both have their own excellent scholarships, some of the most generous for international students in Australia. The scholarship amount depends on which course you are applying for.

Study Abroad students:

  • AUS$1,000 - AUS$2,000 off your tuition fees with the Study Abroad Excellence Scholarship

 

Undergraduate students:

  • 40% off your tuition fees with the European Undergraduate Scholarship
  • 50% off your tuition fees if you have recently completed an IB diploma

 

Postgraduate students:

  • 25%-35% off your tuition fees with the Postgraduate Academic Excellence International Scholarship

 

Contrary to what you might think, you don't need the highest GPA and test scores to be able to qualify for a UTS scholarship and you don’t need to spend hours prepping an application – most often it is just a part of your UTS application. Good stuff right?! You do need to be an international student and study in Australia full-time to be eligible. Extracurricular activities at UTS - kick off your social life

If you're looking into studying abroad, you're probably in it to gain exciting new experiences. So you'll be happy to know that UTS has plenty of social clubs and events on campus, through its Activate UTS program. 

Whether it's sports clubs, cultural gatherings or creative groups you fancy, with over 180 clubs there's something for everyone at UTS. Robotics, astronomy, Japanese animation... the possibilities are endless. There are also numerous fun (and sporty) events throughout the year and even an annual summer music festival at the start of the year. This festival is called UTS O'Fest, filled with good food, drinks and live acts. It's a great place to let loose and meet new people in a chill environment.

See and do in Sydney while at UTS

Besides the social activities you can engage in on campus, Sydney has everything you need. As you would expect from a major city, there is plenty to do from festivals to outdoor activities. 

  • Plenty to see here... Sydney is located on the east coast of Australia, providing easy access to the region's beautiful beaches and natural landscapes. It is also a flight (or roadtrip!) away from other major cities such as Melbourne and Brisbane, making it a great location for students who want to explore more of Australia.

  • Multiculti madness: Sydney is one of the most culturally diverse cities in the world, with a large and vibrant international community. This diversity is reflected in the city's food, art, and festivals, making sure students enjoy a unique and exciting cultural experience during their stay in Sydney.

  • Get hands-on: in Australia international students are allowed to work up to 20 hours per week during school weeks, and even more during vacation weeks. This means that you can gain real-world experience through internships and co-op programs if you want to. Sydney is home to a thriving economy and a large number of multinational companies with an international vibe, but you could try to find something a little more local as well.

  • Surf's up! No, Sydney is not just famous for the iconic Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge. If you want to relax or try some watersports, head to the beautiful beaches of Bondi and Coogee. After a day by the ocean, try some of the city's vibrant nightlife or its wide variety of shops, restaurants, and cafes.
