Student job in Australia for international students

In Australia, international students are allowed to apply for a student job and work up to 40 hours every 2 weeks while your course is in session and unrestricted hours during your holidays. It is important to check that your visa in Australia allows you to work. 

Examples of student jobs in Australia are:

  • Retail - supermarkets, clothing stores and department
  • Hospitality - bars, restaurant or in a café
  • Tourism - hotels
  • Agriculture - farming and maybe fruit-picking
  • Sales and Telemarketing
  • Tutoring
  • & Administration.

Student job in USA for international students

In the US it is a lot harder to find a student job besides studying compared to the countries mentined above. The rules in the USA are that you may work up to 20 hours per week but only on-campus e.g. in a café on campus or in the school's library. You may not work outside of campus unless you apply for it.
