Start your epic Malaysian adventure from Kota Kinabalu, which is the perfect gateway to the rest of Borneo. Included in this itinerary is an 8-day tour of the northern parts of Malaysian Borneo - a paradise for a nature lover!
This adventure is packed with amazing experiences that take you closer to the local way of life and the lush nature and its wildlife. During the days you will be spending time with local villagers, learning to cook, heading out on river safaris, visiting an orangutan rehabilitation centre and a turtle conservation program and so much more! The tour finishes back in Kota Kinabalu, where you'll have some free time to explore the city before continuing your adventures elsewhere.
Make your way down from Kota Kinabalu towards Kuching, where you'll hop onto a flight to Kota Bharu and continue onwards to the beautiful Perhentian islands a bit off the coast. Here you will immerse yourself in a diving course, which teaches you the theory and practicalities of scuba diving. By the end of the 5 day program you'll have a PADI Open Water certificate! Due to wheather conditions, the diving school is only possible to do between February and October.
We also recommend that you take some extra time on the islands just for chilling, relaxing and maybe doing some hiking in the jungles. These are the most perfect surroundings for enjoying a well deserved break.
As the final stop on this adventure it's time to head to the country's capital, Kuala Lumpur. We recommend that you spend at least a few days exploring the city and its surroundings: taste the street food, admire the Petronas Towers skyscrapers and visit the nearby Batu caves!
It is up to you how much time you want to spend in Kuala Lumpur before you either board the plane back home or continue your journey onwards, if you're not done traveling yet.
