Are you ready for the ultimate road trip adventure? This itinerary takes you all the way from Los Angeles on the West coast to New York on the East coast. Cross the country in around 8 weeks and get the best from USA in one go!

It's difficult not to fall in love with the idea of spending 8 weeks crossing the big US and A! Do it in your own pace and make sure you absorb it all! From the Cali-vibe in west all the way to hip New York. The route we have suggested allows you to pass through California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee, Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania & New York. Not too shabby, eh?

This itinerary is SO long and packed with so many cool sights, that we couldn't list them all, so beware that the suggested stops are just a fraction of the whole itinerary - and see them as "don't miss" destinations en route.

We've included a car in this road trip, but you can change it to a campervan if you'd like, the choice is yours! It's also good to mention that when you're renting a car abroad, make sure to have your travel insurance in order. Don't have one yet? No worries - we can help you out with that.

What is road trippin’ the KILROY Way?

Well, we always encourage our travelers to be curious. To open up, and to embrace the unexpected. Stop where you can, go down the narrow side street and don’t get stuck in the camper. Don’t just drive for the sake of driving. Approach new people. Approach new ways of doing things. Explore and be open to changes – that’s where the magic happens.

*Price is a from-price per person and based on 2 people over 25 traveling together. Reach out to us if you're a little younger than that - it's not a problem!

Los Angeles, California

First stop on this itinerary is Los Angeles. We've included 3 nights in our favorite hostel at Venice Beach, so you can decide to explore the surroundings by foot, bike or one of the elctric scooters. It's a nice way to get around in the nearby neighborhoods, whereas if you'd like to cover bigger distances in the city for instance to check out some of the fashionable areas such as Beverly Hills and Hollywood, a car would be a better solution - so it's up to you if you want to pick up the car straight away. Don't miss the view from Griffith Observatory, where you'll get a splendid view over the city.

Las Vegas, Nevada

It's time to explore Sin City! Las Vegas is a paradise if you're into partying and gambling for obvious reasons. Make sure you check out the infamous Strip during nighttime. The lights and spectacles here are amazing - especially if it's your first time in the city. Tip: Make a clear agreement with yourself of how much you can afford to spend on gambling (if that's your thing) - you don't want to blow all your pocket money in the second stop of this road trip!

Another tip: Drive the I-15 to Las Vegas from the North, and preferably when it's dark. It's a beautiful sight!

After exploring the city itself, you could also drive to see the Hoover Dam about 40 minutes from Las Vegas. This place is a magnificent combination of nature, history and physics!

Grand Canyon, Arizona

With its stunning and unique landscape, Grand Canyon is a true natural wonder. The surroundings are beautiful, and the place also contains an exciting cultural history. This is one of the classic must-do's when you're road trippin' across the US. Don't spend days here, but make sure you see what's worth to see.

Roswell & Santa Fe, New Mexico

After "The Roswell UFO incident" in 1947 this sleepy town in the Southern States has become world famours. But what actually happened back then? Was it aliens or a wheather balloon? Make your own conclusion when you set the route on the GPS to Roswell. Digest your findings in one of New Mexico's many hot springs and make sure you check out one of USA's oldest towns, Santa Fe as well.

Amarillo, Texas

Howdy y’all! Everything is bigger in America and the best place to test this theory is perhaps in Texas. Test the stretching ability on your stomach when you visit Big Texan Steak Ranch - if you manage to eat the 2kg steak in less than an hour, you get it for free. For an authentic cowboy experience make your way to Amarillo Livestock Auction where you can meet real cowboys.

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Oklahoma City is the capital of the state Oklahoma. Make sure you check out the Science Museum of Oklahoma, which is both interactive and with a lot of hands-on-activities. In Oklahoma you'll also find The National Cowboy and Western Heritage museum which is all about, well you guessed it, the old Western days. Make sure you visit Bricktown which is not only picturesque but filled with nice places for food and beverage.

Memphis, Tennessee

Memphis is famous for it's delicious fried catfish as well as being the home for the King, Elvis. His private residence Graceland is a must visit whether you're a fan or not. It's an attraction itself to view all the Elvis-imitations that travel from all over the world to this special place. In addition to this, Memphis is, of course, well known for it's amazing music scene where you'll find live performances within soul, blues and rock n' roll every night.

Nashville, Tennessee

Continue to another music capital in the US. Nashville is the home for country music, and the city boasts country musicians, cowboyhats and colorful boots in all shapes. Don't miss the dancing on the tables, beer mugs served with straws and locals heavily discussing which songs that should be played on the city's many honky tonky bars.

Knoxville, Tennessee

The contrast is big between men and women dressed up in business attire and the more down to earth vibe in Knoxville. Explore the hometown of the Jackass-legend Johnny Knoxville, and enjoy the pleasant vibe at the square by Gay Street for instance. When you're in the Knoxville area, it's highly recommended to visit Ashville too. This cosy town is the perfect gateway to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, with at least five of the main entrances within 1,5 hours of driving. The Great Smoky Mountains are known for its foggy views over the many forest covered mountains in the area.

New York City, New York

End your coast-to-coast adventure in "The City that never sleeps" - New York! Drop off your car and look forward to spending your time on sightseeing, shopping, Statue of Liberty, Brooklyn, Harlem, Wall Street, street musicians at Times Square, donut-eating policemen and artists of all kinds in Central Park. You won't ever have enough days to explore New York, so make sure you set aside plenty of days here!
