Travel to Yellowstone - nature at its best

There are bears, bison and wolves. Thundering waterfalls, snowy peaks and endless pine forests. Yellowstone National Park in the Rocky Mountains in the U.S. have lots of wild experiences to offer - for nature lovers, history geeks and adventurers. Book your trip to Yellowstone with KILROY!

This unique nature reservation spreads over the State of Wyoming and into Idaho and Montana. It was founded in 1872 as the world's first national park and today it’s world renowned for its unique nature. You will find more than 322 different bird species and more than 300 geysers, since the subsoil is full of volcanoes.

Grand Loop Road

In Yellowstone you will find, among other things, a 228 kilometer long bow-shaped road called the Grand Loop Road. Here you can drive through the magnificent landscape, which most of the park’s two to three million annual visitors choose to do.

You will find lots of nice camping and picnic areas, so you can easily take a rest and enjoy a picnic. And if you feel like some action, you can go trekking on the winding paths or visit one of the many hot springs. If you want to explore some of the areas full of wildlife, you can join some of the hikes led by experienced park rangers. In addition, there are plenty of opportunities for both fishing and skiing in Yellowstone.

Grizzly bears in the twilight

One of the biggest attractions is the rich wildlife of Yellowstone. Especially the bears. Yellowstone is one of the only areas south of Canada where there is large populations of grizzly bears. If you are lucky you can catch a glimpse of them or perhaps one of the brown bears, which live in the park. The chances are greatest around dawn and dusk.

But stick at a safe distance - the bears can weigh up to 400 kilograms(!) - and they do not like being disturbed!

Elsewhere in the park you can encounter deer, red deer, antelope, bisons and big buffalos, which often migrate along the park roads where the terrain is less hostile.

Discovering Yellowstone’s own Grand Canyon

If you want to feel the natural forces raging, there are several possibilities. One of the most beautiful places in the park is the 23 kilometer long Grand Canyon (yes, that’s what it’s called, but it’s not that Grand Canyon!) with the yellow rocks the park took its name from. Moreover, more than 290 waterfalls and the rushing Yellowstone River is a fascinating sight.

The sputtering geyser Old Faitful

On your trip to Yellowstone, you can also take an excursion to the many hot springs and geysers, as the area is full of because of the smoldering underground.

One of the most visited places here is the one with the friendly name 'Old Faithful’, surrounded by steaming hot mud. This geyser puts on its show every half to one and a half hours, but every outbreak does not last more than a few minutes. But in the short time is up thousands of liters of water blown high up in the air.
