"My name is Mathilda, and I am studying at Macquarie University in Sydney!
Already in high school I knew I wanted to study abroad, which was a way for me to combine a need for a degree with my love for travel and exploring. I chose to move to Sydney because of the beaches, city life and the general friendliness of the people. Two years later, I am in my 3rd and final year of a commerce degree with majors in marketing and international business. I can honestly say moving here was one of the best decisions of my life."

So why Macquarie University?
"Sydney has many well-known universities around, but what drew me to Macquarie University was their Business School and the campus, located slightly north of Sydney.
The main campus is big with plenty of grass yards to study in or just hang out with my friends. My first two years I lived in different student housings on campus, where I met people from all over the world. I have lived with all different types of nationalities, and most of them are always up for a party. Now I share an apartment next to Dee Why beach with an Australian girl I met in my first student housing."
My study life at Macquarie University
"I am usually on campus 2-3 days a week, where I have one lecture and one tutorial (similar to seminars) in all my four subjects. In between classes I catch up with friends over coffee, have group project meetings or study at the library. I am also involved in different mentoring programs and student societies, which is a great way to meet new people. There are over hundred different societies at Macquarie University, so there is something for everyone."
When I'm not studying...
"When I am not studying or working, I go to the beach, which is the perfect way of spending a hot summer day. Sydney has many amazing beaches, so you can take your pick. During breaks I try to explore other places in and around Australia when I can. One of the best trips I have ever done was two weeks in New Zealand during my first year, where we did everything from bungee jumping to go on a glacier. Another highlight has been Cairns, a backpacker town in Queensland’s rainforest by the North Barrier Reef."
