Pilanesberg National Park, South Africa’s fourth largest game park, is situated in a crater in the Bojanala Region of the North West Province, and is roughly 3 hours (215 kilometers) from Johannesburg by car. This crater is the product of a volcano that erupted many millions of years ago. This extinct volcano has evolved to become one of the most fascinating landscapes for you to visit.

The park covers an area of 55 000 hectares. More than 7000 animals live here in a free and unhindered environment. Pilanesberg is home to all of the Big 5 (elephant, rhino, leopard, buffalo and lion) and we guarantee that you will be able to tick off most on your list of game sightings as the national park offers over 200 km of roads for game viewing! Other animals that you may encounter are zebra, giraffe, cheetah, hyena, hippo, crocodile, jackal, wild cat, various antelope as well as over 300 bird species - the list is endless.
On our tour you enjoy an extensive game drive conducted by an experienced and knowledgeable tour guide who will answer all your questions about the fascinating wildlife and environment. Bring your camera to have a permanent record of all the wild animals and the spectacular landscape this national park has to offer.

3 Day Pilanesberg Experience - Tent

Day 1: Pick-up & the Big 5

You are picked up from the airport or your accommodation in Johannesburg to travel to Pilanesberg. Enter the park for a morning game drive in a closed, air-conditioned vehicle. After lunch (at own cost) it's time to enjoy an afternoon open 4x4 vehicle safari drive in search of the animals that inhabit the national park. Our guides are knowledgeable and will give you in-depth information on the animals you are viewing, and try their outmost to find each of the Big 5. On returning to the camp, dinner - simple, yet a very tasty meal - is prepared by your guide.

Day 2: Game Drive

Start the morning with an early morning open vehicle safari drive. After an exciting morning return to your accommodation for breakfast. Around midday it's time for relaxation and lunch that you can enjoy at the restaurant at the lodge (at your own cost). After unwinding in your surroundings it's time for your final afternoon open vehicle safari drive. Upon returning at your accommodation dinner is again prepared by your guide.

Day 3: Game Drive & Sun City

An early rise, once again, for your early open vehicle drive followed by a nutritious breakfast at the lodge. Next on the agenda, the group decides on either another game drive or Sun City, one of Africa’s top vacation destinations. From the lavish opulence of The Palace of the Lost City to Sun City’s premier water theme park, there is plenty to do and see. The water park, Valley of Waves looks like a tropical island, complete with a sandy beach and lapping turquoise waters generated by a powerful wave machine. There is also a water slide for every comfort level, from easy-going tubing along a gentle stream to semi-submerged waterslides and the truly hair-raising 30m sheer drop! Lunch is at your own expense. We'll drop you off in Johannesburg in the evening.

Accommodation

Your accommodation is in a dome tent and we provide you with a sleeping bag. Camping utilities such as a gas stove, refrigerator and cooking gear are provided.

Local transport

Pick-up and drop-off from any address in Johannesburg (accommodation or the airport) in an air-conditioned vehicle included. Collection time in the morning of Day 1 is from 05:30 to 06:00.
