Book this itinerary
The A1 highway from Sydney to Cairns is the world's longest coastal road. It will take you up the beautiful Gold Coast, Fraser Island, Whitsundays and end in charming Cairns. These are just some of the stops on this epic road trip!

If you're into swimming and water sports, but want to take a ride at your own pace then you should jump onboard a campervan and take one or two months off exploring the east coast of Australia. You can take this road trip either from September to November or from February to April or May. From December to March it rains a lot in Cairns and unless you have a specific desire to hang under the canopy while the one flood replaces the next flood you should avoid this season.

We've included a campervan in this road trip, but you can change it to a rental car if you'd like, the choice is yours! It's also good to mention that when you're renting a car abroad, make sure to have your travel insurance in order. Don't have one yet? No worries - we can help you out with that.

What is road trippin’ the KILROY Way?

Well, we always encourage our travelers to be curious. To open up, and to embrace the unexpected. Stop where you can, go down the narrow side street and don’t get stuck in the camper. Don’t just drive for the sake of driving. Approach new people. Approach new ways of doing things. Explore and be open to changes – that’s where the magic happens.
