Travel to New Zealand - action and wild nature

A trip to New Zealand will give you loads of fantastic experiences in the great outdoors with plenty of action: bungee jumping, skydiving, white water rafting and much, much more. The scenery is magnificent, and you are guaranteed to become deeply fascinated in this beautiful country. Book your trip to New Zealand at KILROY!

On a trip to New Zealand you will become primarily acquainted with the two major islands: North Island and South Island.

North Island

On the North Island you can see the most spectacular glaciers and get close to the life of the indigenous Maori culture. Up in the north, it is also possible to see impressive volcanoes, beautiful beaches and a number of scenic national parks with excellent opportunities for trekking and camping.

South Island

South Island offers, among other things, Kaikoura, where you can take an impressive whale safari and also see the unique birds of the area. Further down South Island there is an opportunity to sail on one of the world's most spectacular sailing trips while in the midst of the staggering beauty of the Milford Sound fjords, also called the "Eighth Wonder of the World". The nature is very diverse in New Zealand and you can find fascinating hot springs, geysers, breathtaking mountain lakes, rainforests, an exciting wildlife and much more. Throughout the country (especially on South Island), you can take part in the action-packed entertainment, such as skydiving, jet boating, bungee jump and rafting, but also try the slightly less breakneck adventures, such as horseback riding and kayaking.

Meet the locals: New Zealand's "Kiwis"

One of the best things about a trip to New Zealand is the local population, known as 'Kiwis'. Meet them, for example, over a pint of beer and a rugby match in one of the cozy pubs and enjoy their friendly company and good humor. It can be difficult at first to understand their strong dialect and their slang - and there is a lot of slang! But when you've been here a little while and take part in the "Kiwi" lifestyle, you will quickly start to love them and begin to understand most of what they say. Plus, they enjoying making fun of the neighboring people in Australia - so you know an 'aussie'-joke, then you will instantly become popular.

Accommodation in New Zealand

New Zealand is a very good travel destination with accommodation available in all classes. Camping in one of the many well-maintained national parks is an ideal and exciting opportunity. 'Base Backpackers' is also recommended. Before you leave, you can purchase from KILROY a "passport", valid for 10 nights in either a dormitory or double room. There is no limit as to how many "passports" you can purchase. There are plenty of hostels where you can use your 'Base Backpackers' pass and they are of a very high standard. Another benefit is that you have the chance to meet other fellow travelers at these hostels and maybe exchange traveling tips or even find a new traveling partner!

Travelling around New Zealand

The most obvious and most rewarding way to travel around in New Zealand is to hire a campervan (or another type of car) and discover the country on your own and at your own pace. It is the perfect way to travel here, especially because the country is so well developed in terms of infrastructure and road, thus making it a very safe place for driving.

Another option is to buy a Stray bus pass through KILROY. Stray is a bus company that has extensive routes throughout New Zealand. You have the ability to hop-on/hop-off wherever you feel like it. It is the perfect way to meet other travelers that also will be traveling around the country.

Education in New Zealand

New Zealand's culture and nature offers exciting alternatives in relation to other English speaking countries. At the same time, students can enjoy a wide range of high-level educations. New Zealand is a forerunner in many fields and consistently places high in many international comparisons for education standards. Our partner universities have over 100 years of experience and are internationally recognized and offer many fields of study.
